Jim Reed, 72, of Stanford, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at his residence. He was born September 16, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James R. and Charlotte Rodda Reed. Jim was Lincoln County Judge/Executive from 1994 to 1999; served in the United States Army; owned and operated Reed Electrical Supply; employed by National Cash Register in Dayton, Ohio, for 23 years; member of the Lions Club; KY Farm Bureau member; Lincoln Co. Fair Board; Stanford/Lincoln County Industrial Authority, Secretary & Treasurer; Lincoln Co. Chamber of Commerce Director; First Southern Bank Board Member; Southeastern KY Economic Development Board; full board member of the Center for Rural Development; Lincoln Co. Little League; Harris Memorial United Methodist Church Board Member & Administrative Council; and recipient of the “Citizen of the Year in 1983” from the Lincoln Co. Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his son, Jim “Jimbo” (Stacie) Reed of Prospect, Kentucky; a granddaughter, Brooke Lynne Reed of Prospect; brother-in-law, Rev. Tinsley (Joann) Ball, Jr. of Duncan, OK; sisters-in-law, Kate Spoonamore of Stanford, and Lyda Blanton of Orleans, IN,; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fanlee Ball Reed; and a sister, Charlotte Reed.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, October 26, at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, formerly the Harris Memorial United Methodist Church, with Byron Crawford and Rev. Donna Jones officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery with military funeral honors by Caswell-Saufley Post #18. Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 pm Thursday at Fox Funeral Home and after 10 am Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Ft. Logan Cooperative Ministries or New Beginnings United Methodist Church.
